我来自加勒比地区。搬到香港是一个很大的改变，但对我来说相对容易。这里的交通比我在家乡的地方要好很多，不需要到处开车。而且食物在某种程度上有些相似，因为我们家乡受到了很多亚洲的影响。我们经常吃中餐。
当我刚搬到这里时，我很幸运地找到了一个社区。我在Internations上认识了一个来自特立尼达的人。通过她，我认识了一群来自加勒比地区的人。他们热情地欢迎我，我在这里找到了我的部落。这就是我的建议，如果你想念家乡，找到志同道合的人。食物是家乡的味道。家就是食物。做一些来自你的家乡的菜肴，品尝你成长的味道。我和我的朋友们一起做加勒比菜，这让我感到有一丝家的温暖。
现在我是一名数学教师，我做私人辅导。我曾经管理一个辅导中心，但现在我有自己的学生。对于你这个年龄段的学生来说，在长大之前好好享受年轻的生活吧。不要急于长大，承担责任和付账单。趁你还能无忧无虑地享受生活的时候好好珍惜。你知道我说的是什么意思吗？尽情享受现在最好的时光。
我年轻时学习太努力了。我的父母不相信玩乐，只相信学习。我希望我在大学时能更多地享受，更多地参与校园活动。你在大学交到的朋友将成为终身的朋友。即使过了18年，我仍然有一些来自大学的朋友。所以要充分利用那段时间。
香港一开始对我来说太拥挤了，到处都是人。但我喜欢探索它的历史方面。我会选择一个随机的地铁站，然后在附近走走。每次都能看到新的东西——自然与现代建筑和基础设施交织在一起。看到他们如何将新旧结合在一起，真的很有趣。现在我已经开始欣赏香港了，虽然一开始离家太远让我感到困难。但在这里找到你的群体，做一些怀旧的菜肴，你会开始将它当作家的感觉。
I'm originally from the Caribbean. Moving to Hong Kong was a big change but it was fairly easy for me. The transit here is a lot better than back home where you have to drive everywhere. And the food has some similarities because we have a lot of Asian influences back home. Chinese food is something we eat often.
When I first moved here, I was lucky to find a community. I went on Internations and connected with another person from Trinidad. Through her, I met a whole group of people from the Caribbean. They welcomed me and I found my tribe here. That's my advice if you're missing home - find people of like minds. Food is home. Home is food. Cook dishes from your homeland, eat the flavors you grew up with. I make Caribbean food with my friends here and it gives me a little piece of home.
Now I'm a math teacher. I do private tutoring. I used to manage a tutoring centre but now I have my own students. For students your age, live life now, enjoy being young before you have to grow up. Don't rush to grow up and take on responsibilities and bills. Enjoy having a responsibility-free life while you can. You know what I mean? Live the best of it now.
I studied too hard when I was young. My parents didn't believe in fun, only studying. I wish I had enjoyed university more and been more involved in campus activities. The friends you make in college will be lifelong friends. I still have some of the same friends from university, even 18 years later. So make the most of that time.
Hong Kong was too dense and crowded for me at first, too many people everywhere. But I liked exploring the historical aspects. I would pick a random MTR stop and just walk around the neighborhood. You'd see something new each time - nature next to modern architecture and infrastructure all mixed together. It was interesting to see how they integrated the old with the new. I've come to appreciate Hong Kong now, though it was hard being so far from home at first. But find your tribe here, cook some nostalgic dishes, and you'll start to make it feel more like home.
